Q&A: Should I Invest in this pet carrier?

Question by : Should I Invest in this pet carrier?
I recently found this cute pet carrier online …I was thinking of using it for taking my cat to the vet and possibly a 10 hour air plane when I move to Europe in abour 5 years. What do you guys think?

OHHHH that is a very nice one. But you’d better check on the plane going to Europe. If you are flying there permanently you will not be able to take your cat in cabin with you (only can do that in the USA and Canada). The pet would need a hard sided standard airline carrier to be riding in cargo.

But for the USA flights, that’s also a great price.

Added: – just to clarify for those below – the carrier pictured is ONLY to be used in cabin under the seat in front of you. Not in your lap or in the cargo section under the plane. If the cat flys under the plane in cargo, it will need a sturdy hard sided carrier.

Question by kennedy: Did I pack enough for my car trip/week vacation with my puppy?
I have an almost 12 week old maltese puppy. She’s very tiny. In about 2 weeks we will be traveling by car to a cottage. This is what I am planning to bring (is it enough/too much? What else should I bring?)

-my dog lol
-her bed, and the blankie i put under her bed
-food/drink bowls
-food mat (so food doesn’t spill everywhere)
-her collar and tag (it’s always on her anyway)
-leash
-brush
-nail clippers
-2 toys (some stringy soft thing and a bouncy ball)
-her carrier
-can of wellness puppy wet food
-bag of wellness puppy dry food
-bag of wellness puppy treats
-this stain spray thing (in case she does her business on the carpet or floor)
-her litter (she’s still training)
-liter of our own water so she doesn’t drink the water there or lake water.

Make sure you bring her vaccination records. If anything happens to her and you need to see a vet they will want to know what vaccinations she has had already.

Shampoo since your previous question mentioned swimming in a lake.

Litter? I am pretty sure you don’t need that at home either. Start teaching her right away to go outside instead of in litter.

Q&A: 4week old puppy..were to go potty?

Question by KK: 4week old puppy..were to go potty?
Hi We have just taken in a puppy who is somewhere around 4 weeks of age..he is a pitbull.. looks like he is only 3 weeks to 4 but had his teeth..anyway.. We saved him and took him because someone was trying to sell these pups way to young and they were taken from mother. We brought him home and ive had him in a soft bed/crate carrier, I lay a puppy pad down in it and his blanket in back and he naps in there.. when he wakes up I take him out and put him on a pee pad on the kitchen floor and he goes to the bathroom. If we are not home and during the night he is in there and goes to the bathroom in there.. What should I be doing? As far as an area for him? I thought of blocking off an area in my unused laundry room and laying down newspaper and puppy pads and then soft area for him to lay for naps on the other side(same area but he can still sleep away from poop) That way he has his own space to run around and go to bathroom and then nap..what do you think? This is a very small young puppy he only weighs 2 lbs so He is not good enuf at walking to be taken outside to potty..Im assuming at this size and age usually they are laying with their mother in an area and playing and pooping in that area with their litter mates?? He is ding great.
Actually we live in SC and at the flea market people sell pups..etc.. some crackhead was selling them..obviously desperate for money I took him to prevent her from selling him to some bad household..I knew they were way to young to be taken from their mother. She was trying to sell 3 of them for 25 bucks…horrible
he is eating royal canin baby puppy food.. it is real small and for wheening pupps. he eats it pefectly.. I put a tiny bit of water to soften it but he doesnt need it like mush..he eats it great and drinks water from a bowl..vet said i didnt need to feed him formula.
surprisingly when he wakes form a nap he whines and as soon as i take him out and out on pee pad, he does his business..so really the only time he goes in his carrier crate is at night. If I cant take him with me hes at home but not or long..soon it will get more demanding when i need to take him outside to potty every hour!

at this point, mom may still be helping the pups with their potty times…. i know my bltch does until about 4 weeks, and then they all learn to follow her outside.

you need to report whoever it was that was selling these pups, and ask your local ASPCA for help. the average pet owner is in NO WAY prepared to deal with the needs of a 4 week old pup.

I have two kittens who share a carrier when we go to the vet, so I feel chihuahuas wouldn’t be that much different. :)

Yes, they will be fine. They may even like it better, because if they are not used to travel it will be good to have a familiar face around. Pets easily get most frightened when in new situations, and to have some familiarity of home would help them calm down a bit.

Still, you know your pets better than anyone. It’s up to you to decide their temperaments. If you’re not sure, why not test it out? At home, put them both in the carrier. Observe them for 10 minutes. If they seem fine then, chances are they’ll do okay wherever you are going:)
