This phenomenon crosses all boundries- old spinsters, gay couples, young selfish women, lonely men. It’s unreal. People treat their pets like children: clothes, hats, spas, daycare, totes and carriers, hotels, (no joke), language, motivation, summer camps! The dog has become a replacement for a child especially among young selfish types who don’t want the sacrifices that a child demands. Yet, they talk about their pet, carry photos of their pet as if it were their spawn. Then you have all the celebrity bimbos with their freakish miniture dogs stuffed in thousand dollar handbags. This society has reached terrifying decadence. I’m not religious, I hate religion, but the culture of death is present in this trend. Is there a psychological explanation for this?
I should add that I don’t want these people to have kids, sorry if I was confusing. These types shouldn’t act as though the dog is a kid. I know we bred them down to toys, but in the end they are a capably independent animal.
A friend of mine carries a stack of photos of him and his dog’s abventure trips. The dog even has a rucksack and tent! Another friend (a couple) has to get a babysitter for the dog because it spazzes (and he gets guilt) when the dog is alone. I’ve just had it and started telling them that they’re kooks!
mluxia: go back to heavy petting with your Sparky. So sorry!

Everybody in my town has them. They are nylon(maybe) bags that come from super small to sort of large totes and they have two thin leather straps. They have a circle logo on the zipper with what might be a running or juming greyhound or some kind of dog on them. If anybody knows what kind of bags they are and where to get them that would be wonderful!
i have some pictures!
