pet carrier airline rules?

Question by mizzblondie0789: pet carrier airline rules?
I am moving and I’m in the process of purchasing a double pet carrier like the SHERPA ON WHEELS PET CARRIERS ones but i’m not sure both cats will fit in them.. They are both estimating 15 pounds each.. it says how many pounds they can handle but i’m not sure if the second pet is included in the weight.. Any suggestions I really dont wanna give away one of my cats if it is too big >.<
There just going to tell me whats on the website and it says nothing about weight..

Question by : In California does the Law require a kitten to be in a pet carrier (Kennel) while in car?

Best answer:

Answer by Ocimom
No – but common sense says for the protection of the pet and the driver, its always best to put the cat/dog IN a carrier while the car is moving. We show cats – they ride in carriers and are only let out if we need to stop for lunch/dinner and then they are alllowed out of the carrier at that time to eat, drink and use the litter pan. Once on the road again, they go back in the carrier.

Never lost a cat or had an accident or the cat was hurt doing this. But I do know of several tragic stories where a loose cat was killed in a car in an accident – the cat could have lived IF it had been riding in the carrier in the back seat.

Is the sherpa pet carriers too small for my puppy?

Question by Alice C: Is the sherpa pet carriers too small for my puppy?
I bought one of those carriers for my puppy because he is going to be on the plane with me when we fly to Anchorage. I followed the measurements of buying the right size for him which is a medium…but how much room should he have to move around? He can move around in it from one end to the other. He also spins in it sometimes and other times he is just on one side…. but he looks pretty cramped to me. So how much room is he supposed to have? Maybe he’s just not used to it? I just feel sorry for him. :(

He should be fine – they can safely be used on cats and puppies/dogs up to about 15 lbs. If your puppy is larger then that, he will have to fly in cargo.

Question by Denise: How can I keep my dog from going under my bed all the time?
She isn’t going under there out of fear or anything. Its usually when I start to fall asleep and she gets bored. She just rifles around under there and it keeps me up at night. Plus I’m always irrationally afraid that the bed will collapse on her, lol.

I don’t want to put a screen around it(looks dumb). is there something I could spray that would deter her? Im also thinking of just filling it up with storage totes under there…but that would be a pain.

Haas anyone else had this problem? I’m open to any and all suggestions.

Thanks!!

my cats used to do it all the time. i just took the bed off of the thing that lifted it from the floor (forgot what its called lol) so that it was the boxspring and that mattress. it made my bed less tall but its worth it (:
