are dog backpacks safe for pitbulls?

Question by : are dog backpacks safe for pitbulls?
My friend and I both have pitbulls, we started talking about the subject of dog backpacks, I told him that it is just makes a better workout for the dog as long as you put the correct weight, and he said that he went to some pitbull place and was told that they put too much pressure on pitbulls backs and front legs.

I havent found anything that says that they are bad for dogs, but I cant seem to find information about the specific america pitbull terrier breed.

thankyou

if you put a stupid backpack on your pitbull it will hate you and probably attack you later.

Question by resident_hector: Does anyone know of a sporty backpack that I can use for my Chihuahua??
My husband and I do a lot of mountain biking and i’m looking for a sporty backpack that has a good level of comfort for my little 7lb. Chihuahua so that I can take him with me on rides. No, I’m not going the basket on the front of the bike route. Come on now… and no trailers will do.
My dog already is comfortable in a doggie carseat and with different outfits on and in a carry bag… now i’m looking for a sporty backpack that is cool and properly made for dogs in these situations. Can anyone help me with any suggestions? Maybe a website that I can get one from? Nah, no kids just yet… when they come along, the dog will be in the trailer with the kids. I’m serious here so i’d appreciate some serious responses. All the ones I’ve seen are too bulky and not appropriate. It’s JUST for when i’m mountain biking on simple flat trails. No concern of falling. Thanks all.

Q&A: A question about dog backpacks?

Question by Sammy B: A question about dog backpacks?
I have a Jack Russell Terrier who is about 15 lbs. If I go hiking with him should I give him a backpack like in this link

http://www.backcountry.com/store/RUF0037/Ruffwear-Approach-Dog-Pack.html

He is very strong and in shape for his size.
He is only about 1 year 4 months.

I don’t want to hurt him with weight, but like I said for his size he is very strong. Should I get him a bag, and if so how much could I put in it?

Thanks

Q&A: Anybody any experience with dog backpacks?

Question by Adam D: Anybody any experience with dog backpacks?
Hi fellow dog lovers!

I’ve started using a backpack with a dog I walk (he’s a 6 year old Spitz cross about the size of a springer spaniel) as he is very high energy. It’s really helping to drain his energy and make him more manageable on walks and he doesn’t seem to have a problem with the weight (I’m currently using a 1kg weight on either side of the pack) and has never really shown any discomfort with the pack on with or without the weight in it. I recently read though that the weight should be mostly on his shoulders as a dog’s back is not built to carry extra weight and I guess for peace of mind I’d just like to know will it be obvious if he is not coping with the weight or is in pain because of it? I just hate the thought of him suffering in silence, y’know….

Thanks guys!
