Q&A: Sherpa Pet Carrier on American Airlines?

Question by aevans21927: Sherpa Pet Carrier on American Airlines?
Can a medium sized Sherpa bag fit in the cabin on an American Airlines flight? Under the seat in front of you? Anyone actually done this? Thanks!

Answer by Chance
Not all Sherpa bags are airline approved. Make sure that your style and brand is approved.

The maximum size for cabin pet carriers is 19″ long x 13″ wide x 9″ high. Soft-sided pet carriers such as Sherpa bags may exceed these dimensions slightly because they are collapsible. Animals must be able to stand up, turn around and lie down in a natural position in the kennel. Soft-sided pet carriers are accepted as long as they are constructed of water-repellent, padded nylon with mesh ventilation on two or more sides.

Question by ♥ Alice ♥: Are Blood Tests Always Right at Determining Allergies?
I recently had a blood test which stated I was allergic to cats, dogs and grass.
I know for a fact that grass doesn’t bother me, and I’m only allergic to some dogs.
I break out in really bad, red, itchy rashes around guinea pigs and horses, and become really sneezy. Also, lots of skin products give me a big itchy rash, and sunblock, and plastic carrier bags do the same.

Is it possible that the blood test was wrong?

Well with the animals, I know that it can vary from species to species since it’s only the animals dander that you are actually allergic to and some produce less dander than others. Even those that have more, if they are groomed alot, it will reduce the amount present so that they bother those that are allergic less. The grass is probably due to something that the plant expels like pollen too and if that is so, it would only be at certain times. It might very well be for certain varieties too and that the test is just yielding an “overall” result. You would have to ask your doctor these specifics.
False-Positive. Sure it might be possible. Ask the doc about that too. You already seem to know more about your allergies than they do!

Question by Model_Imoet: Has anyone flown international with Thai airways and took their pets in cabin? Do they allow soft carrier?
We’re planning on flying to Bangkok and take our small dogs in the cabin with us, it would be a lot easier to take them in the soft carrier bags, rather than the hard plastic ones. I’ve asked them a few times and still haven’t gotten a clear answer. We just want to be sure so that we wont run into problems when checking in on the day of the departure. Thanks!

Im not sure about the plain but some countries will not allow animals from over seas and if they do they are quarentined-sp for 6 months, i would check that out first…….

Question by Weeping Willow, Cry For Me: Why do some owners of little dogs think it’s okay to carry their dogs into places where dogs are not allowed?
Do they think that holding a small dog makes it like the dog isn’t really there? What would be your reaction if I were to carry my 75 lb. dog into the grocery store with me (other than admiring my great physical strength at being able to tote such a large dog!)? Do you think it is okay for small dogs to be carried into public places that do not allow animals? If you do think it’s alright, what makes you think that? Doesn’t ‘No Pets Allowed’ include your hand-held pet?
